Pat Keehley and Steve Medlin

I became an SUU Legacy donor for two reasons," shares Pat Keehley, a committed supporter of Southern Utah University. "First, I am strongly compelled to support the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program and the outstanding public servants who pursue the degree."

I became an SUU Legacy donor for two reasons," shares Pat Keehley, a committed supporter of Southern Utah University. "First, I am strongly compelled to support the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program and the outstanding public servants who pursue the degree."

Pat and Steve's passion for public service runs deep. Once a proud expression of excellence, the phrase "good enough for government work" now too often implies mediocrity. Pat hopes their contribution helps reverse that perception by empowering a new generation of professionals who exemplify competence, ethics, and dedication. "Each day, thousands of Utah citizens report to their government offices and dedicate their lives to serving the public. My hope is that my planned gift supports the MPA program as it develops the next generation of public servants who embody public service and effective performance."

But the story doesn't end there. As a first-generation college graduate who received no financial support from family, Pat knows what a difference even a small scholarship can make. "I greatly benefited from small scholarships and student loan programs. I understand the financial challenges facing today's graduate students are even greater than what I experienced."

This lived experience fuels a deep desire to give others the same opportunities they once received. "I became a Legacy donor so I can pay it forward as long as I possibly can."

At its core, Pat Keehley's story is about gratitude, service, and the belief that education and public service can—and should—transform lives and communities for the better. Their gift is more than a contribution; it's an investment in people, principles, and the future.
